Finding a cheap cruise in Hawaii requires taking a vacation at specific times of the year in addition to choosing the right cruise line. Travelers should plan their cruise when others aren’t thinking of cruising. Early September to early December are the best times of year to plan a cruise and save. While a cruise is never an altogether cheap adventure, travelers can find a cheap cruise in Hawaii compared to the costs of some of the other cruises available. By limiting the number of days at sea, travelers save even more money and still get the adventure of being on the open water. Selecting an interior room instead of oceanview saves even more dollars.
Norwegian Cruise Line: “Pride of America”
Norwegian Cruise Line offers a seven-night cruise departing from Honolulu on the island of Oahu called “Pride of America.” The cruise typically has five ports of call: Honolulu, Kahului, Hilo, Kona and Port Allen. The cheapest cruise of the year leaves in early December for about half the price of the busy season ticket. An interior room on the cruise line saves a spendthrift traveler $1,200 to $1,700 on average compared to the suite price. As this cruise line sails quite frequently, several other cruises from early September to early December are also very cheap. “Pride of America” has 10 restaurants, numerous entertainment options from karaoke to an on-board theater and swimming pools, basketball courts and spa.
Norwegian Cruise Line
“Carnival Spirit” is a 12-day cruising adventure leaving from either Honolulu or Ensenada, Mexico with five ports of call: Kauai, Kona, Hilo, Maui and Ensenada, Mexico. The cheapest cruise of the year on this line leaves in late September from Honolulu. An interior room is at a third of the price of a suite on this cruise ship. “Carnival Spirit” has a hot tub and pool, indoor mall, casino, arcade, spa and several places to eat. Children of all ages have plenty of options for entertainment, including age-appropriate play areas and a three-deck high water slide.
Royal Carribean: “Rhapsody of the Seas”
Travelers can enjoy a 10-night cruise from Honolulu to Vancouver with ports in Lahaina, Kona and Hilo. The cheapest cruise of the year sets sail in late April. Interior rooms cost about a third of the cost of a deluxe or suite room. “Rhapsody of the Seas” has a day spa, two large pools, casino, eight lounges, a theater, library and a rock climbing wall. It is recommended to book in advance for the Hawaiian cruise as this cruise ship is used for several other destinations around the world and space is limited.
