The Maui Island Sands Resort is a condominium style resort hotel located on Maalaea Bay in Maui. Maalaea Bay is known for its excellent whale watching and is considered to be one of Maui’s most picturesque locations. The resort is also a short drive from Kihei, Wailea, Makenna, and Lahaina and within walking distance of the Maui Ocean Center Aquarium.

Resort Amenities

The Maui Island Sands Resort features a heated oceanside swimming pool, outdoor gas barbecues, complimentary donuts and coffee served poolside from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Fridays, free reserved parking, a laundry facility, a computer in the lobby available for guest use and a concierge desk. There are several restaurants located within walking distance of the resort facility and Sugar Beach is located steps from your room.

Guest Accommodations

The Maui Island Sands Resort offers fully-equipped one- and two-bedroom condominiums. The condos are all ocean front and offer Pacific Ocean views. Condos also offer air conditioning, a private lanai with table and chairs, a complete kitchen with a stove, cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, and utensils, cable television, a DVD player, a telephone with free local calling, washer and dryer, a hair dryer, beach towels and high speed Internet access.

Sugar Beach

The Island Sands Resort is situated adjacent to the north end of Sugar Beach. Sugar has over five miles of continuous beachfront making it one of Maui’s longest beaches. Sugar Beach is known for the sugary consistency of its fine white sand. Sands Beach is perfect for long walks, swimming, snorkeling, whale watching and surfing.


The resort also offers upgraded units for an additional charge. There is normally a four night minimum stay required except at Christmas time when the minimum required stay is 10 nights. The resort also offers discounts on monthly rentals.
