Every summer, the resort town of Ocean City, Md., becomes the second-most populated city in the state, just behind Baltimore, according to Frommers.com. Its iconic Boardwalk runs from the inlet to 27th Street, and features shops, arcades, restaurants, bars and hotels. Sitting at the end of the Ocean City Boardwalk, the Flagship Oceanfront Hotel offers standard guest rooms as well as efficiency units with kitchens. Amenities include a children’s playground, shuffleboard courts, picnic areas, oceanfront pool and pool-side bar. As of June 2010, packages for a family of four start at $475 for four days and three nights’ accommodations, breakfast, and passes to one of three amusement parks and a miniature golf course.

Princess Royale Oceanfront Hotel

This 100 percent smoke-free, oceanfront hotel gives guests a choice of one- or two-room suites, some with Jacuzzis, or condos with two or three bedrooms. The Carousel Resort is as famous for its ice-skating rink as for its oceanfront location. Hotel rooms and condominiums are available.
