Denali Jeep Backcountry Safari
On the Denali Jeep Backcountry Safari by Alaska Travel Adventures, guests drive through the backcountry in a 4-WD Jeep Wrangler. The tour includes a Jeep assignment and orientation so drivers of the vehicle become comfortable navigating the backcountry roads on their own. The route includes George Parks Highway, the town of Healy and Stampede Road. Each vehicle can accommodate up to four passengers, and the tour lasts approximately 3 1/2 hours. On a clear day, travelers can see parts of Mount McKinley, and they’re likely to catch a glimpse of native wildlife including moose and caribou. The tour is available from the end of May to the middle of September each year. As of April 2010, prices are $129 for adults and $86 for children 12 years of age and under.

Tundra Wilderness Tour
The Tundra Wilderness Tour is offered jointly by Aramark and Denali National Park Concession. It’s a narrated bus tour that travels approximately 54 miles into the park with stops at Stony Hill Overlook and several wildlife viewing spots. Travelers can see grizzly bears, wolves, moose, caribou and other animals in their natural habitats and also enjoy views of Mount McKinley. At the end of the trip, passengers can purchase a “Windows into Wilderness” DVD, which features video footage from their own tour. As of April 2010, tour rates are $103 for adults and $51.50 for children 14 and under. This tour is available from the end of May to the middle of September each year.

Travelers interested in an extended adventure trip to Denali National Park and the Alaskan wilderness can take the Alaskan Wonder tour offered by Trek America.
